about cfp1

CFP1 is the canonical fix protocol for Land Rover repairs.

We built it because the knowledge exists — scattered across forums, Facebook groups, forum threads, grease-stained notes, and the heads of people who've been wrenching on these vehicles for decades. CFP1 gives that knowledge a permanent home.

Every guide on CFP1 is version-controlled. Every change is tracked, attributed, and reversible. When a mechanic discovers a better method, they submit it. Maintainers review it. If it's correct, it merges. The old version doesn't disappear — it lives in history.

This is how software has worked for thirty years. We think repair knowledge deserves the same rigour.

why land rovers?

Land Rovers are among the most repairable vehicles ever made. They were designed to be fixed in the field, often with improvised tools, by people who understood their machines. That philosophy shouldn't die because the forums do.

From the original Series 1 through the Defender and Discovery families — Land Rovers span decades and continents. CFP1 is built for the people keeping them alive, regardless of which one sits on their driveway.

the protocol

CFP1 stands for Canonical Fix Protocol 1. The “1” matters. This is a versioned standard, not a website. As repair knowledge evolves — new parts, superseded numbers, better methods — the protocol updates. Contributors propose changes. The community reviews them. The best answer wins.

built in south africa

CFP1 is built and maintained in South Africa, where Land Rovers are still working vehicles, not museum pieces. We understand what it means to source parts in a country where supply chains are unreliable and a broken vehicle means a broken livelihood.

Prices are in ZAR. Support is real. The community is yours.
